Albert Weale (UCL, London):

Professor of Political Theory and Public Policy at UCL. Throughout his career his work has explored how political principles relate to a wide range of public policy contexts including health care, the environment and the welfare state. Recently his focus has been on the normative foundations of democracy. This has led to the publication of his widely read Democracy and his present ESRC funded research project that investigates the shared foundations of deliberative democracy and social contract accounts of economic justice. Before joining UCL Professor Weale worked at the University of Essex, the University of East Anglia and the University of York. He has also held visiting positions at Yale University, the University of Dar Es Salaam and Australian National University. He is currently one of the Vice-Presidents of the British Academy for Humanities and Social Sciences.
